For the longest time, I didn’t quite know what to call what I’m actually doing here. Naturally, I started working on Turbo and just called it something like “standardizing my dev life cycle”. But a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon the term “(agentic) software factory”, and yeah, that’s totally it. I’m building my very own software factory.
Inside the Factory
As I’ve established in my “Vibe Coding Energiekuchen” blog post, I don’t write code anymore. Instead, I prompt my intentions and make the decisions. The agent asks, proposes, and executes, and every change goes through the same workflow, from idea to pull request, with lessons carried forward into the next session.
My software factory is Turbo, my open-source collection of 72 skills for Claude Code and Codex. The agent shapes the change with me, plans, builds, runs the checks, lets review agents and a second model look at the code, smoke-tests the running app, ships it, and writes down what it learned for the next session. My job is deciding what to build before any code exists, and judging the result at the end. OpenAI’s factory has more steps and a lot more people. Mine is the one-person version.
The Output
Numbers don’t measure value, but they do show volume. Here are my contributions over the last five years, on GitHub plus our company GitLab at Skymatic:
4,875 contributions in 2026 through yesterday, more than three times all of 2025. I was active on 290 of those 295 days. And here’s where the commits went:
What that looks like as products:
- Turbo: the factory itself, from its first commit in March to 72 skills and 400+ stars.
- Ducko: a native macOS XMPP client in the spirit of Adium. 13 releases in five weeks, from 0.0.1 to 0.10.0.
- Somnio: my MMORPG from 2003, rebuilt from scratch. First in Swift in 2D, then in 3D, then I threw out Swift entirely and moved it to the browser with Three.js.
- PsyBoard: end-to-end encrypted exercises for therapy, counseling, and coaching.
- Viral oder Egal: I bought the domain in 2018. The first playable version took one weekend.
- Spectrum Run: my iOS game from 2012, dusted off and back on the App Store.
- And on the side: Energiekuchen and The Shit Is Hot got refreshed, and this website moved from Jekyll to Astro and Tailwind CSS.
The insane part is that work and side projects run side by side. On a normal day, I have half a dozen sessions open in parallel: one investigating an edge case in Cryptomator, one automating another workflow at Skymatic, one drafting a plan for PsyBoard, one waiting for my decision on Ducko. I hop between them, make the decisions, and try what comes out. It’s the most fun I’ve had in my entire career, a constant dopamine high. 🤯
Taking a Break
Tomorrow, I’m going on vacation for two weeks. Even though I’m still pumped, I’ll leave my laptop at home and won’t prompt a single AI agent in that time. Maybe my brain is already a bit fried, who knows. That calendar is going to get its first real gap of the year, and I’m not sure yet how I feel about all those gray squares. 😅
The factory will still be there when I’m back. See you in November, supercharged. 🚀
